National Family Month

In honor of National Family Month, which is May, we decided to have our child. lol. Jamie is doing well, jaundice is all but gone. He had his first check up last week and all is perfect. However, he does have his second check up tomorrow and gets to have his heal pricked AGAIN! PKU test or something like that. I am so NOT looking forward to it, but such is life. Then Wednesday, I get to have my check up. YEAH!!! Hopefully I too will be given a clean bill of health because this "taking it easy thing" sucks royal. Totally boring.

Last week we had our first visitors. Grandma and Grandpa Chipman, Tashina and Natalie came for the weekend. We had lots of fun and look forward to seeing them all again. My visiting teachers and my companion brought us dinner and stayed awhile to chat and play. And then we had a surprise visit from Uncle Travis. He was up visiting Mom and came by to see us. Though I think he might have been a little disappionted with Jamie. He kept asking when Jamie was going to do something. He can't really do much more than smile, sleep, and cry. He can't quite play or laugh yet, sorry Travis. But we still had fun. And then we also got to see Uncle Mark, Aunt Robyn, Jessica, Autumn, and Cheyenne over the holiday weekend. We had lots of fun with everyone here.

We are all doing well. We've taken some pics that turned out kinda cute. But hopefully, with the help of Tina's friend, we'll get some better, more professional ones done this weekend. But I really liked these.
Hope all is well with everyone. We'll see you in Arizona this weekend for Brayden's blessing.

And the Winner is . . .
As for the date, Dr. Chalmers guessed right on
As for his length, Ethan was a 1/2 in over, as he guessed 18 in
And as for his weight, Mom Christensen was 1 oz under at 6 lb, 14 oz and I was 1 oz over at 7 lb, so it was a tie with his actual weight at 6 lb, 15 oz.
As for his actual enterance into this world, he was as stinker in coming. I was having pretty good contractions Saturday afternoon, about five minutes apart. I did everything I could do to keep them coming. So finally about eightish we went to the hospital. They hooked me up to the machines and we waited and waited. Unfortunately, the contractions slowed down considerably and they sent us home. However, the nurse did say that we'd probably be back real soon if not later that night.

Sunday morning, I woke about five and the conrtactions were definitely back stronger than ever. After about four hours of experiencing the worst pain I have EVER felt, I woke Jason and told him to get me to the hospital NOW!!! I was sooo done. However, the contractions were still about ten minutes apart, I was terrified they'd send us home.

"So I was upstairs Sunday morning and my phone went off. It was Sheri and she told me that she was "SOOO DONE!" So I got out of bed and got her to the hospital." [Jason]

When we got to the hospital, the nurse quickly checked me and told me the "GREAT" news that all this pain had me dialated to only half a centimeter more, putting me at a whoping 2.5 cm. Also, she told after seeing the tears pouring down my face that I would not be going home without delivering this baby first. Yeah! But while checking me it was not his head she felt but something a bit more southbound. An ultrasound confirmed that the baby was breach, thus leaving a c-section my only option for delivery.

Therefore, at 12:04 PM, Jamie Jason Chipman was brought into this world via c-section. Jason was able to be with me through the surgery. Afterwards, I was taken to recovery while Jason went with Jamie.

"The nurse and I went to the nursery where Jamie was put under a heat lamp to bring up his temperature. He also got some blood taken for some tests and the nurse gave him a bath."[Jason]

All was well. We enjoyed our three day at the luxury inn, also known as Dixie Regional Medical Center. With their wonderful hourly room service, awesome menus, and . . .

Jamie and I were released Tuesday morning. We stayed with Grandma Christensen Wednesday and Thursday. We are again back home awaiting Grandma and Grandpa Chipman's visit this weekend. Thursday afternoon we received the news that Jamie has Jaundice. Being we were already home, IHC has provided us with a lamp at home. He is to remain in the "SUITCASE" as often as possible. However, we've received the good news that he doesn't need it as of tomorrow (Saturday) morning. He'll need to be tested again Sunday morning to make sure his liver is working correctly. But so far so good.

pregnancy update

So today was my Doctor's appointment. TWO WEEKS LEFT!!! Yeah! All is well, but I am still only dialated to a two. I thought I was doing something a bit more useful with all those contractions, but I guess not. That's what I get for thinking. However, he did strip the membranes or whatever it's called to see if we could get things going. Eleven hours later, I've only had a handful of contractions and a bit of a headache. So we'll just have to see.
Now on to the fun stuff...
We are having a contest. Winner gets nothing but a good laugh and a few good years of boasting of your ability to guess. So here goes... You get to guess when the baby will come, the weight and length. Let me know.
Doc's: May 10, 6 lbs. 6oz, 20 in long
Sheri: May 15, 7 lbs., 19 in.
Jason: May 9, 6 lbs. 11 oz, 19 in.
Have fun. We'll keep everyone posted.
